Southern Girls DT CALL

It has been a fantastic year for us at Southern Girls Challenge and we are ready for another one!
We are on the hunt for a few more DT Members to join our happy little group.  If you think you may be interested, check out the following info..........

We are an open blog so any type of paper crafters can apply.

We are a fortnightly challenge and the team is split into 2 groups so  you are only required to do 1 project per month.

We have lots of fabulous sponsors and sometimes they give us images to work with (YAY)  you are in no way obligated to use these images but it is cool if you do :)

We are pretty chatty, about loads of stuff not just crafting, so be prepared to work those fingers in our group message center.

You will need a blog.

If this sounds like a DT that may appeal to you please contact Lou & Trace at THIS EMAIL ADDRESS LINK!!!!!!  with an email telling us a little about yourself, any current (if any) DTs you are on, fav techniques/ syles that sort of thing and attach your fave 3 projects for us to see and also add a link to your blog please.

We are looking forward to perusing the hundreds of applicants emails and eagerly await all your lovely blog links :)

Call closes 5th October 2011, we know it is pretty quick but we want to be organised before I have my baby due in October.

TPS - Rain or Shine

This week is ANYTHING GOES at The Paper Shelter challenge.  Everyones favourite theme this week so that is cool.  I have used a newish image from The Paper Shelter called "Sharing a Rainy Day" which I have coloured with Prismapencils, the papers were sent to me by my lovely friend JULIE and they are called Tickled Pink by MME.  The flowers are from my SU demo days as are the brads and punches used to punch the sentiment which I made in MS Word.

Hope you will pop over to the blog and see what the other DT ladies came up with and link up your newest creation while you are there.

I've got that Spring feeling.....

I have to say it is a beautiful day here,
The sun is shining,
the bulbs are out in flower....

The snow is melting on the ranges..........

And the gorgeous cherry blossoms are out on the tree, which means..............

Spring has definitely sprung here in the Southern Hawkes Bay.  To celebrate I have a couple of Spring feeling cards to share with you both featuring Country Girl Sugar Plum by CC Designs.

I have cut the image out using a Spellbinders die run through my cuttlebug and coloured her up using both Copics and Prisma Premier pencils and blending with Odorless mineral sprits (OMS or Gamsol is a thinner for oil paint I believe) which blends the wax pencil into the copics and each other to give really soft blending lines.  I inked the edge of the diecut image with ink and my blending tool.
I used gorgeous Basic Grey Sweet Threads papers which I edged with Distress Crackle paint in Picket Fence, I also painted my chipboard leaves with both Brushed Corduroy and Rock Candy crackle paint.  The roses I attached with my glue gun and I finished it off with some ribbon, a bow and a cute sparklet.

Next up pretty much the same basic ingredients, Basic Grey Sweet Threads papers, Sugarplum Country Girl image and same colouring technique.  This time though I hand cut a mat for the die cut image used a corner embellishment made up of flowers from my (huge) collection.  I can't get enough of flowers and use them on nearly all my cards, my favourite to buy are white ones as they can be used as they are or dyed using allsorts of techniques, I may run you through some of the different ways on a top tip Tuesday in the future.

So there you have it, 2 completely different looking cards using the same image and papers and both with a definite spring feel to them.

Awwwww, so sad.

Poor liitle fella, nothing worse than your favourite toy breaking.  This is an image from Mo's Digital Pencil Too which I have coloured with copics and prismas.  I am not sure I am colouring like I am supposed to but I think my images are turning out ok.  I lay down the base colour with a copic, for example on the little boys jammies I layed down B01 (porceline blue) then coloured using a selection of blues and highlighting with the white pencil after I have blended with odorless mineral spirits..

Here is a close up for you so you can really be critical.lol.
I have used My Eye Papers from the blue Lost & Found collection and a random brown one from my scraps

I am entering this card in the following challenges........

SGC BIRTHDAY BLOGHOP

Can you believe we are a year old?, and what a fantastic year it has been with the support from all our wonderful sponsors, and to be on the best Design Team anyone could wish for. In celebration of this, we have an amazing bloghop with some of our fantastic regular sponsors giving away fabulous prizes. You should have arrived from MARIE, if not, head back to www.southerngirlschallenges.blogspot.com where a full blog hop list is.

I have used and image from The Paper Shelter called "My Little Spoiled". The Paper Shelter is giving away a $15 Gift Voucher to one lucky lady who 1 - comments on my blog and 2 - enters the challenge at Southern Girls Challenge.

So, to recap.... the rules are simple, make sure you make a project that is either Birthday themed, has lots of layers or even better both and enter on Southern Girls Challenges, also leave me a comment, and on the 20th of September I will draw a random name, that will be a winner of the sponsor that I am showcasing.

Now head on over to Alicia and have fun......

Embossing with The Paper Shelter

Such a sweet image from The Paper Shelter for this card, she is called "Let's Go To Sleep"  I have coloured her up using just Prisma Pencils, blending the colours into each other using short soft strokes.  It has given the image a soft textured look.  I have also embossed the panels on my card with some cuttlebug folders because our challenge at The Paper Shelter Challenge is to use EMBOSSING of ANY KIND on your project.  I have used some gorgeous MME papers from a 6x6 pad teamed with some flowers and organza ribbon.

I am also entering this card in the following challenges....

Crafty Boots Challenge - Anything Goes
Ribbon Carousel - Anything Goes
Thanks so much for popping by and don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's cards.

Argh... this baby brain is driving me demented!

I totally forgot to post this here on Monday to go with my Artfull Crafts blog post.  This is Andrews fathers day card that he recieved on Sunday from the kids.  I had to make a really quick card as I had totally forgotten about it being Fathers Day.  The Little Toot papers and stickers were perfect for whipping up a nice and easy card which doesn't look like it took 10 minutes.

All the products I used on this card are available in the Artfull Crafts web shop.
